Took a while, but it's always super satisfying to see how the pattern turns out, especially after you’ve spent hours and hours on it. And Nerikomi is nice that way, since however times you’re slicing, you’ll get the same pattern, the same compositions over and over again. Out of this one block, I get to make 10 slabs! I actually already edited this video as an A to Z process vid but it turned out long lol. Stay tuned for the second part to see how I turn slabs into plates! #nerikomi #neriage #handbuilding #slabpottery #coloredclay #potterystudio #studiopotter #ceramics #p Nerikomi Pottery Patterns, Nerikomi Technique, Nerikomi Pottery, Brownie Points, Slab Pottery, Making 10, Pottery Techniques, Pottery Studio, Always Be

She incorporates the Japanese Nerikomi technique into her practice, which involves slicing and stacking different coloured clay and allowing natural patterns to emerge. For the TOAST New Makers programme Polly has created six pieces of tableware, which she chooses to focus on because "everyday life is the most important and overlooked experience.” Learn more about Polly's process and shop her pieces via the link in bio. #TOASTnewmakers Polly Liu (@yuan.workshop) Words Bébhinn Campbell Photogr Nerikomi Technique, Patterns In Nature, Tableware, Design
