I love onions, and can easily go through 4-6 onions in a week. Last fall we decided to buy a 50lb sack of onions. For the same amount we spent each month on onions, we were able to buy 50lbs worth from a local farm. I figured, even if some went bad before we could eat them, it was still worth the money. Yes, you can plant onions that have sprouted. However, if you plant the entire bulb, you will get several smaller onions. You will get larger onions if you separate the onion first and then plant the sections apart to give them more room to grow. I really enjoy growing onions in the vegetable garden and they are biennial, so in their first year they produce the bulbs we generally eat, but if left to grow, or replanted, in their second year they produce flowering stems that pollinators absolutely love! So they are worth replanting for that reason alone. 🌼🐝  I have found that onions sown from seed, then go on to produce the best seed, but you could also plant sets, even though they are already immature onions. They will then grow and bulb up and once the necks drop I harvest them, eat most of them, but then store the rest.  The following season I replant Harvesting Potatoes, Cross Pollination, Onion Flower, Growing Onions, Onion Bulbs, Plant Store, Pearl Onions, Buy Seeds, Seed Starter
