Woburn Abbey in Woburn, Bedfordshire, England, was founded as a Cistercian abbey in 1145. It is built of ashlar, mostly Ketton oolite and Totternhoe clunch, with slated mansard rooves. There have been many additions and alterations over time. It consists of two storeys and attics, with 3-storeyed pavilions. There are balustraded parapets to the lower blocks, behind which are gabled dormers and there is a variety of multiple chimney stacks. It is Grade I listed. This was our last day of sightseeing. A driver would pick us up at our hotel at 11:00 a.m. the next day [May 12th], to take us to Heathrow Airport for our flight back to Michigan.
