like the thing is

i want to pick at the inequalities between a crow rook and lucanis

but also this fandom has a panic attack any time someone tries to engage with lucanis’s less flattering traits

lucanis shows next to no awareness of crows in positions like Zevran was. and it’s probably just as simple as He Has Never Had To Think About It. and i think there’s something so chewy there with a Crow Rook because Viago just reads as ruthless to me

it’s not outright stated but yes. very heavily implied. what’s actually more? strange? is that there’s an implication that not only was the relationship way more than just physical but also greagoir implies he would have escaped with her had he known she was pregnant?

It’s a good thing we haven’t spoken much since my return. Anger put my mind in disarray and civility would have been damn near impossible. But it is time, and perhaps in writing, I can put into words what I find difficult to say in person.

You told me you had no choice but to let them take him. Tell that to yourself if you must; we both know it isn’t true. You had a choice from the very start. From the moment you found out. But you withheld knowledge of my own son from me because you knew I would have found a way. You knew I would have given up the Order for the both of you. So blame my love for the Chantry, the templars, my vows, if it helps you live with it. Maintain the fiction that you couldn’t drag me down with you. Pretend that you are the martyred party. I’ll always know the truth; you chose your place in the Circle over your own son. Your belief that perfect obedience could win a mage the trust of the Chantry was more precious to you than what we had. You decided to be helpless when you had a choice to fight. It wasn’t your decision to make. He was mine, too. The Chantry may have taken him, but you kept him from me.

something also so crazy insidious about the chantry restricting marriage rights for mages while also making sure their templars are preventing them from having any relationships at all. wynne and anders saying the kinloch hold mages have to actively work around the templars and memorize their schedules just to have sex. implication obviously being that its banned. even normal ass friendships and romances are picked at because it creates attachments which might breed dissent EXCEPT its explicitly stated that karl was the one thing that finally kept anders from treating the circle like a crazy elaborate escape room and they STILL separated them for some arbitrary reason ITS ALL CONTROL

the “dire wolves are no longer extinct” stuff is gonna be the most annoyingly persistent science misinformation for the next decade at least

my theory is they went with dire wolves because it’s the easiest pop culture-famous extinct animal to evoke. anything people would see as cool or notable enough to care about, like a dinosaur or a woolly mammoth or a dodo, is really hard to genetically edit into existence; the exception being dire wolves, which people both think of as an epic game of thrones fantasy creature that also looks exactly like a normal wolf (as opposed to a large bush dog that isn’t that closely related to grey wolves)

here’s a good article from New Scientist for anyone who wants it!
