It’s more like holding a class discussion and coming to a common understanding of what the expectations are, if everyone agrees upon them, and what they mean. 

Here is a sequence you might follow when introducing classroom expectations the first week of school: 

Day 1: Introduce the expectations you have chosen for your class or allow the class to come up with them together. 

Day 2-5: Go deeper with each expectation by highlighting one per day to discuss and provide examples.
