Mme. Merveilleuse Half Scale Commission

This is a commissioned piece for Mme. Merveilleuse of a half scale storybook cottage. If you have been with me for a long time, you will remember this house as Miss Read's. This dollhouse is made from scratch with no kits. This house with the base is 11 1/2" x 8 3/4" x 12 1/2" tall. The house itself is 11" across x 8" deep x 12" tall. Interior down larger room is 4 3/8" tall x 4 3/4" x 6 1/2" deep. The smaller room is 4 1/4" x 5 1/8". Upstairs the large room is 6 1/2" x 6 5/8" x 6" tall. The…

In the directions for the assembly of the Farifield after the foundation is put together its time to work on the staircase. The stairs that come with the kit were not my favorite. No matter how much sanding I did they just weren't up to par. So I adapted a set of houseworks stairs. Step 1: Cut the stairs to match the width of the original stairs. Some Progress and Some Pain

Today I continued with the outer trimmings of the half scale house. I felt like the eaves and gables were too wide, so I cut them. Soon I will give them support brackets. As you can see here, the eave is shortened, and will be given a gutter and bracket. This makes it more realistic. As you can see from the previous post, I had put shingles on the gable ends.
