Barbara Babs | Home Decor on Instagram: "As a (former 🙌🏾)complete novice to this DIY reno world, here are my top 5 tips to help you get started on your first wall/ stair panelling project. Some of these lessons I learned the hard way- don’t be like me! 1. Instead of a pencil, use a chalk line to mark the walls where you would like your dado rail to go. Especially up the stairs! 2. Plan how many picture frame panels you would like to create and draw them on the walls BEFORE you stick down any moulding. 3. If you don’t have a professional mitre saw to cut your wood, a mitre box saw or a junior hacksaw can still get the job done! 4. Always use a spirit/digital level to make sure your panels are straight. Do NOT trust your eyes alone. 5. The inner hallway in the apartment was a dumping ground right till the end. Until I was ready to bring home most of my tools and left over materials. I did want the same v grove panels that I used in the kitchen but there was a 2 week wait and I had guests arriving so opted for these from @homebase_uk. They’re far easier to use tbf and I am liking the wood grain.
