Phlomis grandiflora ‘Lloyds Variety’ Lambley Nursery, Yellow Claw, Planting Ideas, Dry Garden, Silver Leaves, Drought Tolerant Plants, Flowering Shrubs, Cut It, Drought Tolerant

Shoppers at the nursery will often decline the option of a yellow flowering shrub but we wouldn't be without them. We grow this in our dry garden where its silver leaves and whorls of yellow claw like flowers are handsome the year round. We cut it back halfway during winter to keep it tidy. It has long been an important structural…

For 30 years we have grown it in our dry climate garden as a shrubby groundcover under Yucca filamentosa. A decade ago we planted two mirrored double rows in front of roses in our…

Salvia ‘Phyllis Fancy’ | Lambley Nursery Dry Garden, Olive Tree, Evergreen Shrubs, Drought Tolerant, White Flowers, Nursery, Flowers, Plants

Salvia ‘Phyllis Fancy’ is a tough drought tolerant evergreen shrub flowering from midsummer until winter and a great favourite of our resident New Holland Honeyeaters. The long arching sprays of violet and white flowers are very telling and there is good separation between flowers and foliage. The 160cm tall by 100cm wide bush grows near and under olive trees in our dry garden. Although it is evergreen we cut it to the ground in winter to allow under-planted bulbs to grow and flower. In cold…
