Open mall design

Turning the traditional idea of the ‘shopping mall’ inside out, Commercial Bay presents a new model for the retail typology: an open-air, laneway-based retail environment configured over three levels. The project embodies a spirit of generosity, creating two entirely new pedestrian routes through the city block, connecting transit nodes, and enhancing the pedestrian experience of the city center.

Combining a shopping mall, office towers and hotel facilities, the design concept revolves around the ideas of a garden city.

Aedas-designed Xi’an Lovi Center has opened in 2023 June and served as an urban oasis for the city. Located in Xi’an, the project is comprised of a shopping mall, office and hotel towers. Designed to be a vibrant mixed- use destination, Lovi Center has become a unique retail-recreational attraction through the hybrid of public space and greenery.
