We didn’t love the split level design, but we didn’t hate it either.  It is an uber common style of home in the greater Seattle area so it felt familiar (possibly unavoidable?!) Changing up the entry made it feel more unique and a better fit with to our style. 

One of my other fave split entries is my friend Jenasie @msviciousdesign who changed hers up with wallpaper and paint.  Proving once again that in a rental home or without budget/interest to renovate, you can change the way you feel about your home.

We capped off our first year as a married couple by blowing out some walls in our house.
