In our city, we are required to have 5 square feet per chicken. While we hope to add chickens to our farmstead in the future, space is currently an issue.  So, what about quail?  You may be surprised to hear that you can house as many as 2-3 quail per square foot.  That’s right. Some people say that the quail egg is so small, and you are right, but think about this. In the same space, I can have 1 chicken laying 1 egg a day, or 10-15 quail laying 10-15 eggs daily.  The hutch in the video is 8x3. Since you can have as many as 2-3 birds per square foot, you can keep as many as 48-72 birds in it at a time.
