Washed flour seitan

This is flour washed seitan that is juicy, shreddy, meaty, high protein goodness. Made with just flour and water- with lots of seasonings. This recipe has you wash out the starch from a ball of dough leaving you with wheat protien. From there you season it, fry it, then simmer it. The result is a juicy, shredy, meaty seitan. Making seitan this way is easier to digest with no vital wheat gluten flavor. Use it like chicken- bread it for tenders, shred it for soup, fry it up with some rice

This is a slight variation to my first washed flour turkey recipe. I left out the mushrooms, started with a little more flour for a larger yield, and slightly adjusted the amount of seasonings and tofu. I really twisted the dough when knotting this one and wrapped in a cheesecloth to keep it from expanding in my slow cooker. I think this improved the texture, giving it a better "meat grain," but it's still just as flavorful and juicy as the original.
