Oxenfree

Oxenfree is a supernatural adventure game. Rites of passage and Senior year traditions set the stage for a group of friends sneaking off to Edwards Island, an old military outpost with no phone service. Players will take on the role of Alex as she brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party gone horribly wrong. Inspired by classic cult films like Stand by Me and Poltergeist, Oxenfree is an adventure that pulls from the past but looks to the present. “It’s a coming of age story where players control how their hero comes of age,” says Sean Krankel, co-founder of Night School. “We’re drawing on the fond and mortifying aspects of being in your late teens, and setting it against a dangerous and ghostly backdrop.”

I really went into the game with an open heart. It’s the game I got recommended in a secret santa from a whatsapp group I’m in, but… it didn’t click. You know, despite having a good premise and being kinda simple, games that are more like a walking simulator with choices need to have, at the very least, a good script and unfortunately I found it pretty whatever.

The characters are kinda annoying, and it’s hard to form any real connection, I only really liked the whole thing with Clarissa and Alex. The supernatural part of the game doesn’t stand out, the story behind it constantly gave me the feeling that I was just watching something I’d already seen several times, with no real identity. And even though it was predictable, I liked the ending I got.

I didn’t think it was awful or anything, and I do feel bad about it since it was a friend’s recommendation, but unfortunately I couldn't like it more than that.

Great story and great dialogue. It actually felt like real people were talking instead of reading off a script. It's got a lot of problems: frequent frame drops for some reason, characters won't stop talking ever, multiple characters talking over each other during scenes, and you can't run so some parts are dreadfully slow.

Eu confesso que não lembro da história e terei que jogar de novo-

the guy who was tripping the whole time bc he was was the only one to eat weed brownies before the story even started was my favourite character

don't drink and get possessed by a poltergeist
