Incoherent thoughts on games.
A lot of the reviews on here are super old and I'd like to go back and update them, but doing so would be a massive time-sink. Just be aware that any instance of "aged good/bad" bothers me just as much as it might you; genuinely a worthless critique without context.
"Played" generally means I've hit credits when applicable. For roguelikes, if there's no clear end, it might just be my first cleared run. Sometimes I'll get all endings/true ending, sometimes I can't be bothered. I'll usually indicate one way or the other.

A heavily simplified but surprisingly decent adaptation of Fire Emblem for mobile - at least in terms of core gameplay - that was swiftly turned into an anime women png casino.
It’s nowhere near a replacement for the mainline games, but it works well for short play sessions. Most single-player content is very doable as a free-to-play player, but multiplayer is a different story, due to relentless power creep and the abundance of whales.
The story is terrible, has only gotten more nonsensical as the game refuses to die. Major plot points are introduced or built up only to be completely forgotten.
The game has resulted in updated art for many older and more obscure characters being made, but characters from the more overtly anime-style games - especially female ones - get the most representation by far. Some of the character art, particularly for the female characters, is genuinely awful in both concept and execution.
The 2024 Choose Your Legends event speaks volumes about the current player base. Two original characters with no established personalities at the time of voting took first place in their respective gender brackets, seemingly on the basis of their sexualized designs alone. Awesome player base.
Despite the fact you don't need to engage with any of it, it's crazy that a first-party Nintendo IP is monetised in such an overtly lazy way. At best the game is timewaster, but at worst - especially for those with addictive tendencies - it can be a money waster as well.
