This was a fun 3d platformer with unique move tech, but there was a required obsticle near the end of the game that caused me to rage quit once and nearly again in the final boss. Everything up until then had been stress-free and akin to Super Mario Odyssey with the explore and collect design of each level.

As a launch title for the Gameboy, Super Mario Land does an admirable job of creating the Mario experience for a 2-bit handheld. Similar to Super Mario 2, the game establishes new locales, characters, and a princess that has since become a regular in ancillary Mario games.

I had a more difficult time playing through Super Mario Land compared to the original Super Mario Bros, both due to the smaller screen and different physics engine. But outside of the final boss fight, everything felt fair and achievable.

I've owned Machinarium since Humble Indie Bundle 2 or so, but while I remembered playing it I didn't recall ever beating it.

Playing through this time I understood why: while the art and music work wonderfully to establish a unique environment, the puzzles range from simple to frustratingly difficult. I'm happy to have played through, but it's not necessarily an experience I enjoyed once I hit the half-way mark.
