Literally the only nitpick I have is that the aiming can be kind of wonky, otherwise it's one of the best games ever.
Dark Souls 2 is strange to talk about. There are so many questionable design choices, but at the same time I had a lot of fun with it. Adaptability was a bad idea, equip load having a separate stat is weird, and the enemy placement can be frustrating. Even still, it takes a lot of risks, and consequentially ends up being the most unique Dark Souls. Bonfire ascetics are a really cool mechanic, powerstancing adds depth to the weapons, the lore is awesome, etc. If you like the other Souls games, you will most likely have a lot of fun with this.
Yeah the graphics aren't great and the story is uninteresting, but it makes up for it with how fun it is. Exploring the wilderness and just getting lost, capturing Pokemon along the way is a really enjoyable experience. The new battle system plays mostly the same, but having fights in the overworld is a neat thing. Overall a very nice spinoff.
