Last HuneX VN in the series although they have 2 weird "real games" left to release, yes it's a VN with locations like the first THE RENAI SIMULATION instead of an ADV, I suppose D3Publisher chose RENAI ADVENTURE rather than RENAI SIMULATION because it's vaguely a mystery and not another derivative of To Heart. This one was originally a PC game too and also came out as the final Simple 2000 Dreamcast game, a series consisting of 4 HuneX VNs and nothing else.
Put off talking about the game again because I still have nothing to say, don't really enjoy the character art, and as someone who loves ugly colour filters and post-processing in 3D games everything being so washed out really detracts from this. The pocketwatch as a calendar is cute and the music is way better than the last two but damn I never want to hear that girl shout oniichan ever again

Success' SuperLite series already had a version of Qix so Taito had to throw its neglected little brother Volfied into the Simple series in the same kinda port + remake format as Space Invaders 1500. I like Volfied in concept but unfortunately they chose to make every sprite insanely large compared to the original, especially compared to its myriad contemporary ports that also had to deal with landscape aspect ratios. Makes everything feel slow and also makes the gameplay way lamer when all space on screen is filled with those huge sprites at all times even if they do look kinda cool. My issue with the original Volfied is that it feels like their main goal was to try and squeeze the worst possible noises out of the soundchip and their secondary goal was just to add the first things you'd think of trying to follow up Qix. Sure, add some blocks into the middle of the stage, make it look like its Taito shmup brothers, add powerups, change the enemies up, it's good enough, leave it. It works, but idk, feels like it could've been so much cooler... plus it might honestly have the largest gap in utility between random power-ups ever, every time I got a 5 second time bonus instead of instantly killing all minor enemies it damaged my soul. I suppose the remade "arrange" version is slightly better because the sound choices are a little less harsh but they're identical apart from redone sprites and those sprites are still the same size. I swear I like Qix, there are just an unreasonable amount of bad takes on it. Still better than Urban Constructor.

Last Warashi game in the series (devs of THE MAHJONG 2 and THE SHOGI 2, all with the same menu template), second to last traditional game adaptation and very importantly the last pure plain 2D game in the series, so I suppose this counts as the official start of the "D3Publisher throws a small budget at whatever the fuck developers want to do" era... glorious. Unfortunately due to harkening back to the first 10 or so Simple 1500 games it has absolutely nothing to it, a simplified mode, a mode with a time limit, and a mode without a time limit. The time limit in the time-limited mode is absolutely brutal which locked me out of half the game. And you'd think a game that works on a perfect rectangular grid would lend itself perfectly to a controller, but no, take this horrible one-speed eight-directional mouse, cuz fuck you.
At least shisen-sho is a pretty good idea for a send-off, though I feel as if it's just because they already had mahjong tile sprites laying around from the year prior and were also developing a mahjong game for Simple 2000 at the same time. Everyone knows regular mahjong solitaire is better, that's why there was an entire industry predicated upon adapting it into budget PC games to sell in supermarkets, so I'm a little disappointed. It's okay though. Game probably should've come out with the initial wave rather than 2001. Its okay though
