if there was a dangerous foodborne illness outbreak that had dozens of illnesses linked to it across the country, you would still want to know who did it even if those products were expired and no longer being sold, right?

well the US FDA disagrees with you.

there was an e. coli O157:H7 outbreak (investigation #1280) tied to a romaine and iceberg lettuce blend. the FDA knows who did it and where people got sick. 12 states so far.

but for some reason. they are being cagey as fuck about it. they have not named the supplier or even WHERE people got sick. this contaminated lettuce blend was sent to events, restaurants, a school. this lettuce is long expired and no longer being sold.

the FDA is working with the unnamed supplier to see if any of their other products are affected, but the FDA is not even giving the people the option of avoiding this brand. because they refuse to fucking name them!

fuck off with this shit!

this is a shiga toxin-producing strain of e. coli that can cause kidney failure and other long-lasting medical conditions! this is not funny! people deserve to know who did it! especially in a country where patients are so often forced to sue to get their medical bills covered, and especially considering how this is a strain of e. coli that frequently KILLS people!

if this mystery entity is named, I will let you know. it is hard to even guess if the FDA is protecting someone or if this is just another fuckup in a long long long long long string of recent fuckups by the FDA.

this is bullshit. keep an eye on investigation #1280.

the case count has increased to 86, still with no indication of who was responsible.

this foodborne illness outbreak has been declared over, with 88 linked cases. the FDA is still refusing to name the responsible entity or where people got sick. what the fuuuuck

update: the FDA and CDC had reports on the investigation, which were heavily redacted to avoid naming the supplier that sickened at least 89 people in 15 states with dozens of hospitalizations, seven cases of kidney failure, and one death. children developed hemolytic uremic syndrome from romaine lettuce.

lawsuits by marler clark representing the victims have uncovered that the culprit was in fact taylor farms, which people following me may recognize as the culprit behind the deadly O157:H7 e.coli mcdonald’s hamburger outbreak in october 2024! the sliced onions! highlights from investigations into the disgusting taylor farms factory included:

  • nobody washing their hands even during inspection, they would just wash or use hand sanitizer over gloves instead of washing hands or changing gloves, including in between touching a visibly dirty floor and immediately handling food
  • visibly dirty surfaces were marked clean
  • using and combining cleaning chemicals that were NOT labeled safe for food
  • cutting boards and knives were dumped in mystery chemical concoctions and then immediately used for food, without letting anything dry first. the chemical mixes got in the food!
  • grime, biofilm, chemicals, food debris, and pooling water were found all over the facility. “equipment was constantly wet”, several places in the facility tested positive for listeria
  • they tested for pathogens incorrectly on purpose so tests would come back clean even when there were pathogens in the food and on site

all taylor farms did to those onions was chop them up and send them out. and just in that very simple process they provided the opportunity for deadly contamination that got over 100 people sick and dozens hospitalized. at least one TEENAGER developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, and at least one person died.

in october of 2024, a fuck ton of people got sick from taylor farms onions because of deadly e.coli O157:H7. and then just DAYS later in november 2024, their romaine lettuce was ALSO found to be contaminated with deadly e.coli O157:H7, and for whatever reason the FDA and CDC refused to publicly declare them the source.

so from me to you, it was fucking taylor farms again.

I love absolutely everything about this. I want to make trading cards for everyone in my neighborhood. I want to receive these instead of business cards. I want to build a deck around my local electrician and mail carrier and ice cream truck driver.

I thought it was such a shame that no one knew about them,” she said in an interview with Fuji News Network (FNN). “Since the card game went viral, so many kids are starting to look up to these men as heroic figures.” The plan worked. Kids have started attending local events and volunteering for community activities — just for a chance to meet the ojisan from their cards. Participation in town events has reportedly doubled since the game launched.ALT
