i got 1.5k images into my more-organized sorting system and now i’m like. um. maybe i should just use tags instead

there's about 4k images i haven't done at all yet.... do you KNOW how hard it is to sort sexy poses there's so much OVERLAP between EVERY type of category but i can't just not sort them at ALL tagging is the best way to handle categories that overlap but i tried making a list of tags and it's getting unwieldy if you go too fine it gets useless again but too general is useless as well?? AHHHGHGHGHHHH silverstarschat fuckkk my baja blasted life

i changed my mind i actually HATE sorting. it's impossible. i bought a couple more pose reference photo packs and i'm trying so hard to sort them but it's like okay. do i sort by standing vs sitting vs laying first, then subfolders by activity? do i sort by kissing vs hugging vs hanging out, then subfolders by position? what if one person is kinda lounging and the other is more sitting up, does that go under sitting or standing? what if they're obviously mid-makeouts but not actually locking lips at the moment, does that still go under kissing? fuck my baja blasted life no wonder none of these packs start out sorted

hmmm this sounds like the kinda thing that’d work best with a tag system but then that begs the question of. how to set up a tag system if you’ve just got the images….

you could maybe sort by pose and if there are two people, you copy the image and put one copy in each relevant pose folder?

from a user standpoint I think it would depend on if you’re looking for specific references or more inspiration… like “I want to draw characters hanging out, where’s a ref with that general vibe?” vs “how the fuck do lips work when they’re making out???”

the problem is i do both </3 sometimes i’m like “i wanna draw some sort of makeouts, where’s a cute makeout pic” and sometimes i’m like “okay i wanna draw this specific makeout pose i have in mind, so i’m gonna start with this one makeout pic that’s sort of similar but then also scour all other sitting refs for the leg positions i want”

i started using alias folders so that i can put a subfolder several places without duplicating the actual photos, and that helped, but it still ended up a bit of a mess… so this time im gonna try n be more consistent about where i put the actual images vs where i use an alias…. and have one set of activity > position folders, and then another set of position > activity folders that’s all aliases. 🤞🤞🤞

i have thousands of images… no idea what the actual total count is bc i’m not counting all that i just don’t like trying to draw without fairly-exact reference. and i draw for fun so trying to at least make the reference gathering process easy silverstarschat
