A place where I yell my thoughts into the void, and hope someone will hear me.

I don’t know why, and it’s probably unhealthy in someway, but I refuse to listen to or acknowledge negative critisisim towards Pokemon.

Does anyone else have something that they’re the same with, or am I alone here?

The misoginy in this fandom starting to show, urgh, honestly it took them more time than what i though it would take but still, very weird to see it growing, and y'all probably dont even realize it

It’s not misoginy to be annoyed that the main character is getting sidelined in his own show. The Mandalorian has always been advertised as being about Din and Grogu, the show is described as being about them. Sidelining him to tell someone elses story is absurd.

There’s two aspects of the Star Wars Fanbase that annoy me to no end.

1) The people who spout ‘The Empire were the good guys! Palpatine did nothing wrong!’ as if the manical space wizard who manipulated a galactic war from both sides so he could make an Empire that blows up planets, is in fact a good person who wants what’s best for the people. These people say that The Death Star and Dark Troopers were made to fight the Vong because Palpatine saw their invasion, as if that idea wasn’t retconned in for a story series written after the main films were made, and ignore that a good leader would have told their people that’s what they were doing. And if these people are just making jokes, they’re very good at seeming serious.

2) The statement/joke ‘No-one hates Star Wars, more than a Star Wars fan’ which is just absurd. You can be critical of a piece of media, you can disagree with some parts of it, but that doesn’t mean you hate said piece of media. If you truely hate something, than you’re not a fan by definition. And if you’re a fan of something and say you hate it at the same time, either you’re insecure about your intrests, or you’re just being a tosser.

Is there a reason no-one’s saying anything in response to this post? Does no-one have anything to say?

I’ll say something. I agree with you on all of this. You have no idea how many Imperial/Sith apologists lurk on Twitter. They really believe the villains were actually the good guys.

Additionally, I got some slack myself for criticizing aspects of both Legends and Disney Canon timelines.

I don’t know about Twitter, but when I was on Facebook I found a page dedicated purely to Pro-Empire stuff. I don’t know if they were serious or ‘ironic’/shitposting, but going through it would be maddening. I’m a Sith fanboy myself but I don’t say they’re good guys.

Star Wars Fans And Sexual Violence

I’m worried that I’m seeing a pattern among Star Wars fans. That being the tendency to believe that charecters experianced sexual violence without providing any evidence for it.

One thing I’ve seen multiple times is the belief that Shmi Skywalker was raped by the Sand People who abducted her in Attack Of The Clones. When I asked why people thought this, the respnse I got was that what exactly happened to her is up to veiwer interpretation, which to me just confirms that there’s nothing to say that happened.

And one I saw recently on Tumblr was that Boba Fett and Din Djarin had both been sexually abused and again, there was no evidence provided in the post to support this claim.

Honestly, I feel like this tendency to just assume such things without proof says more about the fans than it does about Star Wars itself.

Has anyone else seen this pattern, or am I imagining it?

Reminders

Do not harass content creators.

Let people enjoy things.

Cancel culture is stupid. We’re human beings. We make mistakes. We can change.

Age doesn’t matter when it comes to making fanart or fanfiction.

Fandom discourse/drama is dumb & unnecessary.

If you want representation, make it yourself. Don’t wait around.

We should support fanfic writers by their work, not the color of their skin or gender.

People like characters for their personality, development, & how they relate to them. It will never have anything to do with race.

Most people in a fandom actually know the difference between fiction & reality.

Anti’s are people you shouldn’t take seriously. They hate people having fun.

This needs to be said & I’ve saw this happen in quite a few fandoms.

swtor fans: yes I love swtor. yes I hate everything about it. no this isn’t contradictory

I have never understood the people who bitch about EVERYTHING and really do seem to hate it. Like, why the fu€k are you even here? Why is it necessary for you to spew your vitriol all over the rest of us who DO love it?

Really, just do everyone a favour and piss off!

I fully agree with you. I made a post calling people out on this behaivor. Want the link?

hi does anyone have good meta on how fandom really jumped the gun on the assumption that Din grew up in an unhealthy environment and cult based on One Line from Bo-Katan who clearly has a biased perspective?

@thecyndimistuff @dindjarindiaries I’m guessing at least one of you has written such a thing on the subject.

but like who started the idea that fanfiction writers are somehow bothered by enthusiasm for their work???? cause i see posts all the time like “do writers really want to talk with us about their fics? Do writers really want long comments? I dont want to bother them” and i just think its absolutely ridiculous????

ofc i want to talk to you about it, and would love to hear you go on about it. i took time out of my real life to write this stuff down so we could all share these characters!!! the idea that you’re bothering a fanfiction writer, a fellow nerd, is absolutely crazy

Personally I attribute at least part of this to the shift of fandom onto Tumblr platform. Because of the way Tumblr works, multiple replies and reactions can get cluttered and overwhelming really fast, so leaving replies and feedback can be awkward. I have actually seen ‘tumblr etiquette’ posts going around scolding people for adding commentary onto posts when they reblog it! Actually discouraging  people from reacting and adding their own words!  If any of this attitude spills over onto fanfic posts and reblogs, no wonder readers are shy about adding their own words to an author’s posts.

Dear fans on tumblr:

WE, THE AUTHORS, REALLY WANT TO HEAR YOUR COMMENTS.

As an author, yes!
