The tragedy of life is that I want to do tavqotds so bad but 99% of them feel like, “your character exists for this relationship and only this relationship and outside of it they are nothing”.

Which is true, almost every tav exists just to fuck one of the canon characters and has very little thought put into them outside of that.

That’s not at all a bad thing, btw! You’re not required to put any amount of thought into it! If anything, with the devs nerfing the difficulty for the romances, that’s more or less the main point of bg3, intended or not. Half the game is dedicated just to that specific feature (at least for Astarion and Shadowheart. Rip Wyll, Karlach, and Minthara enjoyers).

Just kinda sucks that out of the thousands of tavs that exist, I never get to know much about anyone’s OCs besides them being an accessory for a canon character. And very few tavqotds care to explore the Tav by themselves, either.

I’m aware that I’m an outlier, I am Spiders George, one out of like 12 Tavs that remain single throughout the entire game. Im not telling you to do anything or trying to preach from some high horse as if my character not being interested in any of the canon characters gives me some form of Tav Superiority.

My point is that I want to know about people’s characters by themselves! I don’t care about what Gale or Lae'zel thinks about them or how the character fell in love with them! I want to see tavs who’s backstories reflect the amount of love the owner has for the canon character they ship them with! I want to see tavs who can stand on their own if their partner never existed, be it a functional or dysfunctional life!

Who was your Tav before they got abducted! What were their plans and dreams? Their families? Their friends? What would their life be like if they didn’t fall in love with that character? What if they were able to save themselves instead of the canon character saving them? I want to see Tavs who have lived lives!!!!!! Gone places, done things, had hobbies and preferences! And when WITH a canon character, I want them to still have those preferences regardless of the canon character’s own! Down with Tavs and their love interests having the same preferences! Give me drama and realism!!! I want them to be human!
