Intellectual property becomes important in such arrangements; as such projects may require resources and information to be shared between the client and the service provider. Underlying the availability and application of these resources such as personnel, hardware and software are intellectual property issues, more specifically patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. These intellectual properties have the potential of providing firms with sustained competitive advantage which, in turn, affect the firm performance of the business. Given the importance of IPR implications and the growing BPO industry, the paper attempts to develop a framework for understanding IPR implications for offshore outsourcing of business processes. The framework can be used by both the client and service provider for development and sharing of IPRs to their mutual advantage.

The analysis is based on a sample of 16 colleges and Universities 8 public, and 8 private across time period of 2008 -2012 panel data. The data obtained from sampled universities, Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) are used. We include three inputs and three outputs in a two-stage data envelopment analysis (Wen-Bin-LIU et al (2013), first evaluating DEA cores and then regress them through Tobit regression model. The findings from the study suggest that there is variability of efficiency among Universities across years. It is revealed from the study that Universities are efficient in generating graduates through available human capital, whereas research publications and consultancy services are influential factors...

The main purpose of this study was to explore the factors which were driving consumers' behaviour towards innovations. Five innovations in the Indian context, introduction of iDiscoveri methodology of teaching, reservation of tickets over the internet (e-reservations), banking transactions through teller machines, internet shopping and use of tissue paper have been selected, to explore the consumers' attitudes governing the acceptance/non-acceptance of a particular innovation. This paper, apart from exploring the factors determining the comfort level of consumers with respect to a particular innovation, also brings out the importance of consumers' perceived needs with respect to acceptance of an innovation.

It traces the journey of The Heritage School, Gurgaon (India) from 2003, when the school was deliberating to launch an innovative teaching methodology in the junior school to 2007 when the school had to make a decision whether to extend the teaching methodology to the senior school. The new teaching methodology based on experiential and project based learning, questions the relevance of the conventional teaching methodology which was based on memorization of content. The case highlights the changing opinion and attitude of the teachers and parents, towards the new teaching methodology. It also deals with how the school management went about implementing the innovative teaching methodology. The case allows students to examine the fundamental challenges in diffusion or acceptance of innovation by potential users. In this paper; we study the less-explored aspect of organisational response focusing on discontinuous innovation. The Indian auto sector requires a tool for long-term market dominance; particularly owing to the rapid change in the business environment. This can be achieved through a special kind of discontinuous innovation known as disruptive innovation (DI). We further affirm how developing DI is facilitated by the firm's dynamic capability (DC); to substantiate our claims; we develop and utilise a survey instrument to test a hypothesised model with responses from various firms affiliated with the Indian auto component industry. Our findings confirm the positive roles of DC and research and development (R%D) expenditure as antecedents to DI. We further conduct exploratory analysis to study factors such as R%D and environmental turbulence as moderators of the DC-DI relationship. We offer the following contributions: the operationalisation of DC and DI for the Indian context, a sector specific study and critical results pertaining to moderating role of R%D and environmental turbulence on the positive DC-DI relationship.

The Indian environmental management system today clearly reflects this global concern. Global economic forces have impacted environmental management in India on many fronts, such as pollution control, preservation and promotion of ecology, environmental legislation, multilateral environmental agreements, social pressures and legal actions. Based on the personal and professional experiences of the author in business, government, academia and NGOs, this article traces the path taken by the government in developing environmental policy in India in the process of the country's development and traces how the corporate entities responded to the challenge. It is important to approach these interdependent dimensions of sustainable development with a balanced view of domestic as well as of global aspects. The broad objective of the author is to initiate debate on public environmental policy and corporate environmental management as 'Sustainable Development in India' is the main theme of the 14th Annual International Sustainable Development Research Conference, which is planned in New Delhi in 2008.
