I love, love the idea of Yan!Dottore with a Childhood Friend!Reader.
I'd love to know more about him in order to cement this idea but let's imagine for a moment that you both are from neighboring families.
You were asked to be a friend to the solitary boy. "He is... very special," his mother said to yours, "So bright, a genius really! It's just... very hard to make friends for him, most children just don't get him."
Your mother believes this to be a great idea, as you were a very lonely child yourself. A special, gentle child. Most children usually picked on you and took advantage of your meek disposition.
Of course, you accept, as you are in desperate need of a friend.
If you could have seen the future, you would have rather chosen a lifetime of loneliness.
Your meek attitude is a dangerous ingredient in his hands. You would have done anything to please him the first time you met him. So desperate to feel acceptance, you ignore all the alerts your mind fires at you. All because you need a friend.
You agree to whatever he wants to play, always. You should have seen it for what it was: Ominous warnings of the man he would turn out to be. Once he just had you lying on the floor, pretending to be dead. He took your arm and traced your veins with the tips of his fingers. It doesn't matter if your veins were visible or not, he had already read several anatomy books, so he never had a problem finding them. He joked that he would bring a knife next time, "to peek under your skin, just for a glance".
You cried, of course. "I don't want to play with you anymore," you said, "You are mean to me."
He laughed, lowered his face, and kissed your forehead.
"It was a joke, silly. I would never hurt you. You are mine, after all."
At the very least, you should be glad that those words turned out to be somewhat true.
