IMPORTANT FOR APPLE USERS

Due to Apple Security updates. When using your DAC with WiFi please make sure to disconnect the DAC and select your phone by check marking the iPhone/iPad under Airplay. I you do not do this the DAC will no longer show up under Airplay or it will show up but result in no sound.

The fix it to disconnect the DAC from Airplay and then turn the DAC off and wait 1 min before powering on and reconnecting.

CONNECT WITH TOSLINK

Connect your WiFi DAC using the Toslink optical connection:

Step 1: Select the TOS input on the WiFi DAC and make sure the blue led is illuminated below the word TOS.

Step 2: Please make sure the male end of the Toslink cable is firmly seated in the female socket on both the output device and the WiFi DAC.

Step 3: Be sure to set your output device to 2.1 stereo sound only. The DAC does not support Surround Sound formats. If you have any odd noise, pops, or static. Double-check that the Toslink cable is fully inserted in the sockets and make sure your output device is set to stereo or 2.1 channel audio.

Note: Please do not use ultra heavy Toslink cables, they provide no sonic benefit and cause issues with proper seating of the cable in the optical socket.

CONNECT WITH USB

To connect the DAC to a computer please unpack your new WiFi DAC and use the included power cable to connect it to an outlet. Next, use the included USB cable to connect it to an available USB port on an Apple or Windows computer. Connect the RCA output to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier or you can also use the built-in headphone amplifier.

CONNECT YOUR BLACK ICE AUDIO WIFI DAC/DAC

These instructions are for any Black Ice Audio component with a DAC/WiFi DAC direct and wireless connections.

ARIES Amplifier / Glass FX DSD-WiFi DAC / DAC Transport(direct) / WiFi DAC Transport

IMPORTANT: First-time setup is a two-part process. The first part is to connect the WiFi DAC to your wireless network. The second part is to configure the audio output and properly select the WiFi DAC as your output device. (A driver is only required for Windows 7,8,10.)

For the most reliable performance please make sure your router is separating the 2.4g and 5g bands as separate networks. Dynamic switching can cause your devices to be on a different band than the DAC and cause them not to see each each other. Please see your router documentation or contact your router maker to find out how to disable dynamic switching for best performance.

To change or reset your network use a thin object to press and hold the WifI reset switch under the WiFi DAC, the right of the top panel of the WiFi DAC Transport, or rear of the ARIES for 10 seconds. Repeat the steps below to connect your WifI DAC to a new network.

Please unpack your new WiFi DAC and use the included power cable to connect it to an outlet. Connect the RCA output to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier. You can also use the built-in headphone amplifier if you choose.

Please follow the instructions below carefully and make sure that your WiFi DAC is set to WiFi by confirming the Blue LED is light on under WiFi for your Black Ice component.

VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the WiFi DAC is within 10 feet(3 meters) of the computer or device you are using to pair it with your local network. If you don’t see the WiFi DAC in your network list please move the pairing device closer.

Please Note: If you are having issues with your WiFi DAC losing the network signal, please move the WiFI DAC closer to your router. You may need to invest in a WiFi mesh network to increase the strength of your wireless network signal for placement far from your wireless router. The best way to explain a WiFi mesh or positioning close to your wireless router is to compare the difference between driving on a dirt road or a freshly paved highway. A single router is fine if you are close to it but once you place walls and furniture in the way it makes the signal dirty, bumpy, and weak. If you have a wireless mesh(multiple wireless repeaters) you can fill a much larger space. The signal doesn't need to travel through as many obstacles and is clean, strong, and smooth. Please keep in mind that aftermarket routers are much more powerful than the ones that are rented from your ISP provider.

First, let’s connect the WiFi DAC to your local network. (Wireless Router) There are a few ways to do this depending on your available equipment.

Here’s a quick illustration to understand how our DAC communicates with your home network.
