do the mascots fully regain their memory once they achieve their human forms or does it come back more gradually?
The regaining of their memories is connected directly to their human forms.
Their memories aren’t totally lost, it’s more like.. they’re shrouded in fog. It’s up to teddie to help them remember the truth and find their ways home.
i’ve seen arguments in both directions, and tbh I think i’m sick enough of silent protags in general that I cant argue for “the persona protags are literally meant to be the player” when there are:
A) no customization options for hair, clothing, or (significant) room decorations (p5 did good but it could have been better.)
B) no female player character options
C) you are locked to being a single sexuality (it’s girls or nothing)
D) not enough negative consequences for asshole decisions (implying that characters must have certain relationships for the story to progress)
E) Characters have too much to say about how the main character acts. “You’re such a playboy, senpai!” “you don’t like sweets, huh joker?” i wanted to be a dick to akechi so fucking bad but the game wouldn’t let me. I thought this was supposed to be my self insert power fantasy?
If yu didn’t break the trend, then Joker definitely did– and it left a yearning in that I’d rather have a solid protagonist to play as that the characters have a single name for, rather than “leader” “sensei/senpai” or “commander”.
the persona protags being a balance of “being the player” with flexibility in dialog choice and “being their own character” by having those choices flavored by their personalities is better than solely being either is a fine balance. But fuck it if it goes solidly in either direction.
tldr: if the game wants to be a self insert power fantasy then they need to stop giving the characters personalities (and personality isn’t limited to how someone acts, it’s how they dress, body language, and how they populate their living space)
love the aspect of souyo where it’s like everyone’s fawning over Yu (valid) but he only has eyes for his pathetic prettyboy bestie & that he finds him genuinely attractive and that being the thing that breaks him. and that makes me feral. so feral.
Your post abt the Shadow wildlife in the TV world just made me wonder: Do you think the IT take the chance to like, name different variations of shadows? Like, kinda how ppl who discover new species get to name them smthn, yknow? Or do they already Have names and Rise as Navigator is the one who has to relay that to the team? OR does SHE come up with names and just tells the rest of the IT like, "Oh yeah that one's a [insert ridiculous name here]. Yeah thats literally the name I don't come up with these" as she just waits to see who calls her on her bluff.
Sorry this train of thought kinda got away from me lmao o>
so ok that ties into like- what I love about the IT vs the PT or SEES.
Sees has extensive years of research and has people specifically trained for handlign shadows and the PT have a cat pre-loaded with information and a cast of prodigies- but the IT are literally just winging it.
I choose they are literally making it up as they go along. “wow, what do you call that move?” “Well, it’s like Zio but stronger so.. Ziodyne?”
“It’s a whatchyamafucket- what did you call it, Ted?” “Those? I call that one the ‘Persistant Fuzz’, kuma.”
“Look out, we have three Cloudgirl Pots!” The rest of the IT, chanting: “CLOUDGIRL POT! CLOUDGIRL POT!”
fuck it, dress him like a 2000s-core scene sparkledog
