Hugo’s gotten some pretty bad colds over the years, especially during the change of seasons, and of course from going out on missions. I find that Hugo is absolutely useless when he’s sick. He can’t get out of bed, he’s always complaining about having a sore throat, blocked nose, whatever it is. It was always really annoying when he got sick though because he’s always asking for something because he’s “too sick” to get up and walk a few feet.

He’s usually fine after a day or so since his immune system is pretty good. The worst time was when he got Bronchitis, and that was not a fun time for him, and I had to replan a few missions I’d organized for him to do before he got sick. It was a few weeks of constant coughing and nagging, then he was back on his feet.

Hugo had us all convinced the boogeyman was real by covering himself in leaves or whatever and scaring us all half to death. Yong then proceeded to blow up our camp out of fear and we all agreed Hugo isn’t allowed to tell campfire stories ever again 😭

We had to go undercover to a ball one night for information about a totem and Hugo fell head over heels (literally) down a flight of stairs when he saw Varian all dressed up

Probably the fact that no matter how many times I messed up at the beginning (and I messed up a LOT), they never gave up on me.

Well, @goggles-varian and @firecracker-yong didn’t. @blondebitch7k (for obvious reasons, hated the rich) was looking for any reason to kick me out of the group, but we came around to each other eventually.

Hugo never really cried much when he was younger. Never the typical crying over injuries or anything like that. One of the first times was when Callisto left. He blamed me for her leaving so he didn’t want to be near me for a while after that. I tried to comfort him but all he did was push me away, which I don’t blame him for.

One of the only other times was at the Eternal Library, after Varian (possessed by Ulla) had just tried to kill him. I figured I shouldn’t interfere with it since the last thing he probably wanted to do was talk to me after everything I made him do for the sake of the mission. And anyway, the crying was very quickly resolved by Varian being alright.

I find I’m not the best at comforting people. I never really know what to say, so I tend to avoid situations that might result in me having to comfort him. Since the Eternal Library, I’ve been learning how to be a better caretaker to Hugo, so I’ll be there for the next time he needs a shoulder to cry on.
