Inq28 - Inquisitor Warband - WIP

I don't play Warhammer 40k, Killteam or Necromunda. I do however love inquisitors and their warbands. I've been wanted some team for years. This Ordo Heriticus inquisitor is made on the basis of a Dungeons and Laser witchhunter model with some easy conversion bits.

He's a bit small in scale, but paint will hide much of such a scale difference.

His Interogator is made from a Dunkeldorf miniature. Had to do a bit of cutting in the metal, as it's a monopose cast miniature. But it wasn't too hard to add an archaic looking las pistol and deathly token in her other hand. The inqusitorial symbol fit nicely as a pendant around the neck.

Redemptionists are wicked awesome. I have some unbuild for Necromunda. I 've been using old warhammer flaggelant bodies, random 40k arms and cultist heads from frostgrave. This is why I love plastic! Redemptionists and flames goes hand in hand. So this guy has a flamer.

Same base. Flaggelant and cultist head. Then kitbashed a bit chainsword for this guy.

This redemtionist is based on a dunkeldorf female flaggelant miniature. Only took a few bits to make a perfect redemptionist.

Ministorum Priest. Makes sense that an Ordo Hereticus inquisitor is being followed around by a priest and his acolyte. These are also the guys who's brough in the redemptionists.

One guy is an old Forge World Empire Warrior priest. The other guy is an actual 40k miniature, that was lacking his weapons.

Crusader. This is build on an old void plastic miniature (a freebie with some order one time). The shield is a square riot shield longed with an old empire shied. I added a resin cape from Anvil Industries. The head is an empire head I think, from the old state troopers.

This pilot is from the old assault on black reach kit. An ansolutely amazing core box with great terrain and miniatures. I not really done anything other than small greenstuff work on his ammo case, turning it into a medpack. This is the team medic.

Adeptus Arbities. I've read Eisenhorn a lot of times. This model was started way before Necromunda was rebooted and there came great arbites there. Some void model as the crusader, perry miniatures medieval head and a combat shotgun.

The powermaul is kitbashed from random bit box bits.

Truescale Deathwatch marine. This is not intended to be a primaris marines. Made him deathwatch with a shoulder pad, had some resin candles from anvil industries. Candles on your power backpack? Why? Because it's awesome and grimdark.

The head was chosen because it's cool with targetting system.

The cherubs are from some old devastator squad. They're carrying a melta bomb normally. I've just made them carry some cool symbols, changed the wings on one cherub to make the different.

Arco-flaggelants. Condemned heretics. These are made from GW ghould bodies, greenstuff wires and various flail bits. Fairly simple conversions.

And the entire Inqusitorial Warband ready for paint.

Mini Hirds - 28 mm viking gaming

A couple of years ago, we ran a Mega Game at school about the Viking Age. For that, I painted a lot of miniatures.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a special day at school—a dress-up party with costumes and various activities. We ended the day by playing board games.

I decided to bring a small miniatures game. I spent some time re-skinning the Mini Gangs game by Ramshackle Games—a small, super easy miniatures game. It worked well, with six kids playing at a time, some in pairs.

What was awesome was that the kids it attracted were usually the hyperactive ones, but they were completely absorbed in the game. Everything else was ignored for 1.5 hours—something that rarely happens in school. It just goes to show that ADHD only seems like a problem because our system is structured a certain way. If we changed the teaching parameters, that energy and focus could be a strength rather than a weakness.

I'll be tweaking the game further—switching to a d10 instead of a d6 and making room for army vs. army battles. It should be easy to do. We’ll have another board game module in the autumn, and I’m really looking forward to it.

My focus was on game mastering during the game. So these photos are just quick snaps and not edited at all.

Status - Hiatus

Motivation and hobby time

It's been ages since this blog has been updated. So here's a status:

Miniature gaming on my part has been minimal for a very long time. My leisure time have been spend with other things.

The motivation for writing, photographing and such has been non existent. And then I'm not gonna do it then. So for years my hobby has been miniatures, writing, photographing and such. Now not so much.

The blog is staying, some day I might do it again. For now I've been playing some Rangers of Shadow Deep without taking any photos or anything.

A house

I've bought a house, the perfect home. It's in the middle of the woods. It's awesome. As part of moving out, I've cleaned out a ton of my stuff. Like a lot. So everything that's not Guilders, Necromunda and Devils Run have been sold. Everything single unbuild thing.

I've also sold all my terrain and painted stuff for nearly all games. I've kept generic fantasy, frostgrave and guilders. Everything else have moved to other people.

Guilders

Guilders is written, done and all. Playtested a lot. The book never got made, the editor fell through. I haven't had the motivation to get the skills for making a book. Some day it might get done, in a decently edited state and move to Wargames Vault. Maybe never.

Anyways.

I'm in a good place, I'm at a good home. Very little time spend on any SoMe. Lots of time spend on gear and in the outside.

Terrain: TTC Row Houses

I've already build a bunch of small WW2 25mm houses from TTCombat. They were quick to build and very cheap. But I have also gotten myself a bunch of bigger row houses, in both two and three storey versions. These houses are a lot bigger and really give off that Baldur's Gate vibes that I'm going for.

The upgrads of these buildings are the same and I've done with the smaller houses. Stone wall ground floor, timber frame second floors, added plaster and lots of colors. The top of the roof is cobber, and would probably be all green from verdigris in real life, but that color clashed to much with the buildings. So I've only painteda bit of verdigris here and there.

For a tutorial style step-by-step check out this post here. And see all the collected fantasy city terrain on this page

I've also made a YouTube video with these buildings:

When I bought all my city MDF kits, I also got a pack of TTCombat Streets of Venice balcony upgrades. It was pretty cool and allowed me to add a lot of balconies on these house. Some already came with balconies, but it's a seemless fit, so hard to make out which is which.

The awnings are originally from grey board, but I've tossed those out and found some striped fabric instead. These give a much more life like look to the entire building. I've also made some signs using an online coat of arms maker, those will be added one day when I get around to it.

All colors chosen for these buildings have been found with online research on real tudor or timberframed houses. And I've made sure to mix it up, so all buildings have different combinations.

It's pretty fast to paint these buildings, as most of the job is actually done while base coating with cheap rattle cans, then some drybrushing and was will make it all pop. Flock and posters add the last layer of life to them.

On my other houses I've made sure to add a 1cm flat area on the top of the roof, for miniatures to keep their balance there, but that's not needed on any rowhouses. It'll look great when I get around to painting the last 4 of these.

Check out the game Guilders: A Life In Shaows. A 28mm skirmish miniatures game, with lots of RPG elemenets. Inspired by my love of Frostgrave, Mordheim and the Warhammer Quest RPG book. All Guilders is collected here

Vikings: Bondi

For the viking mega game, the base warrior was the bondi. Comes from the word bonde - that means farmer. The simplest guy just taking on a bit of a raid. they also have smple weapons and no armor.

To make variery (Victrix have the absolut best heads) I've mixed Wargames Foundry, Gripping Beast and Victrix. The bondi also have hats or bare heads on half the miniatures, to show the low quality.

Check out all the different post in regards to the gamification teaching project here.

A lot of the archers are made from gripping beast dark age archers - a really old and boring kit with a few monopose sculpts in it. After I had bought miniatures for the project, Victrix brought out their excellent dark age archers (also comes with slings and a few melee options) - for the same price. Oh well.

I made sure to incorporate as many victrix bits into the mix as possible, because they have way better details and size.

In the game, the teams could buy the bondi from the beginning. They required simple weapons (a ressource made from wood and iron) and wool. They also required only simple food ressources for upkeep.

The combat system is a simple which 3 lines system. Axemen have best first line attack, and decent defence. The spear guy has worse attack in front line, but can also attack from line two. The bowman can't defend himself, but can add attacks from the third line. The bowman can also hunt ressources on the main board, gaining furs for the team.

The ressource exchange. Fur is made from cow, deer or reindeer. Used for ships and warriors.

Simple weapons are used for Bondi and Berserkers. Made from Iron and Craftsmen.

And here's photos of the painted bondi. There was six teams. So there's yellow, green, red, orange, purple and blue. All have various shield designs and nuances. An easy way to add some detail, while remaining easy to spot teams in the game.

And here's some photos of the Yellow hird, 36 pieces strong.
