it’s the kind of gifsets that makes me want to say to people who write/headcanon Steve as super awkward/uncomfortable/blushing forever “ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS, ARE YOU REALLY SURE, DO YOU WANT TO THINK THIS AGAIN”.
Yeah.
#oops there go my pants
Except he’s looking at the Red Skull in the pictures above. He’s totally confident in a confrontation with an enemy—it’s the “cup of coffee?” where he’s uncertain.
He’s come a long way since he called Peggy Carter a “dame” to her face, but look at those eyes and sweet smile at the end of the gif. He’s covering it up, but he’s nervous.
Sort of like another time he’s hopeful but uncertain of his reception:
I always feel like fandom wants to define characters by a few simple basic traits instead of acknowledging that they can be complex characters. Which includes having various traits and characteristics.
Steve can be badass and intimidating and uncompromising when in the face of not only his enemies but injustice. He can also be a little awkward and shy around attractive people. He’s also kind, compassionate, and stubborn as hell. Steve can be a lot of things, that’s what makes him an interesting character.
THIS^^^^^^
I’ve personally never met anyone who is 100% confident 100% of the time. Most people are very confident about a few things, not very confident about a few other things and somewhere in the middle about everything else. I see no reason to believe that Steve Rogers is any different.
