Excluded shorts and TV/music. Included documentaries and festival films of 2016 that had their first national release in 2017 (i.e. Raw, Kedi). Did not include films that had some national releases in 2016 but U.S. releases delayed for 2017 (i.e. My Life as a Courgette). There was also a 100 vote minimum threshold for films to be eligible.
