Excluded shorts and TV/music. Included documentaries and festival films of 2017 that had their first national release in 2018 (i.e. Thoroughbreds, Bodied). Note: I only included confirmed 2018 releases, not generally undistributed 2017 films. Did not include films that had some national releases in 2017 but U.S. releases delayed for 2018 (i.e. You Were Never Really Here, The Death of Stalin, Paddington 2 - which was our #1 of 2017).

There was a 300 view minimum threshold for films to be eligible to enter the list. As of January, documentaries needed a minimum of 1,000 views. Also note: for blockbusters and highly anticipated movies that tend to get a lot of views and ratings before they come out, I waited until after their release date before I added them. If anything seemed premature, it's added because it's had at least one festival screening. Films need to have a valid IMDb page to qualify for entry.
