For a movie titled Effects that features Tom Savini in a prominent role, it's surprisingly light on F/X work. In fact, it's surprisingly light in most aspects - story, character, acting, deaths, gore, anything really. The opening showed promise, with them playing around with Fulci flourishes within the film within a film, but it's all downhill from the bleeding prosthetic foot onward until a brief blip at the end when there's a wee twist and a car explosion. Those are the kind of inspired ideas we're working with here.
