A couple tips:
・いくら is used for uncountable things. The word for "some" when it's countable is いくつ。
・More importantly, while modifying “moths” with the word “some” is the most natural thing to do in English, doing the exact same thing in Japanese isn’t really all that natural. They are more likely to say something like 布に穴を齧り開ける蛾もいる。
・I sort of hinted at this above, but "to make a hole" is commonly expressed with the verb 開ける。

I don’t think any textbook out there will explain any of this, because it’s not basic enough that anyone needs it to survive. It’s stuff you’ll find from experience/exposure.
