A prop storybook was created for the opening and closing sequences of “Sleeping Beauty” (1959) to help tell the tale of Princess Aurora who was cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent. Pages inside of this book were created in the medieval style, with artwork designed and painted by the film’s art director, Disney Legend Eyvind Earle. The book, and its very delicate pages with intricately–detailed gouache paintings, was restored in 2010 for future displays.
