Taxation without representation

As a result of the Revolutionary war, Britain began imposing laws and putting more taxes on goods. Such as: sugar, paper, stamps, and tea. The colonists did not like this. They were not only angry at having to pay more for their things, but because they had no say in the decision. Jonathan Mayhew, a minister at the Old West Church in Boston, began preaching for the colonists to come together and protest against the raised taxes.
