Farmer Gracy on Instagram: "For a nice full pot which isn’t too overcrowded, use this many tulips:

20cm pot = 6 tulips
30cm pot = 20 tulips
40cm pot = 30 tulips

For containers or troughs which aren’t round, work to a spacing of 5cm between tulip bulbs.

If you’re adding layers with other types of bulbs, use slightly fewer tulips to make space for other bulbs to grow. Imagine the size of the flower when they grow and make sure there is room for each flower to have its own bit of space to avoid over crowding. If layering bulbs with tulips, put tulips on the deepest layer (15-20cm deep) with smaller bulbs on layers above. They should be planted in layers with the largest bulbs deepest and the smallest bulbs on the shallowest layer. Every bulb should be planted at a depth of around 2-3 times Spring Bulb Container Ideas, Tulips In Pots Ideas, Tulip Planting Ideas, Layering Bulbs, Farmer Gracy, Bulb Planting, Planting Tulips, Container Ideas, Tulip Bulbs

Remember to order your spring-flowering bulbs immediately so you can plant them at least a month before the soil freezes! If you plan on planting a lasagna garden, select taller varieties of tulips and daffodils, which will display better when planted deepest. Consider Darwin Hybrid tulips or Trumpet Daffodils. Lasagna planting (layering) creates a beautiful display of continuous spring blossoms by planting early, mid, and late-blooming varieties in layers. The bulbs are planted at proper depths, with the latest blooming at the bottom layer. Farmer Gracy on Instagram: "For this layered pot we’ve used:

🌰10 x Tulip ‘Silver Cloud’ (15-20cm deep)
🌰15 x Fritillaria uva-vulpis (10-15cm deep)
🌰15 x Chionodoxa ‘Violet Beauty’ (10cm deep)
🌰10 x Crocus ‘Silver Coral’ (10cm deep)

The crocuses will flower first in Feb/March, the rest will flower together afterwards in April! What do you think of this combination?

Layering bulbs in a pot creates a combination you can enjoy, like a miniature planting scheme - perfect if you have a small space and want to grow different flowers, or just want spectacular spring pots! They are planted in size order, the largest bulbs need to be planted deepest and the smaller bulbs should be planted shallower. For most spring bulbs, stick to the rule of roughly 2-3 times as deep as the bulb measures fr Spring Bulbs Garden Ideas, Growing Tulips, Patio Pots, Silver Cloud, Patio Plants, Garden Bulbs, Spring Bulbs, Terrace Garden, Bulb Flowers
