I don't currently have access to the tools I would need to stretch my own canvases. This means, if I want to work on something sturdy, I'm limited in size (since I also don't have access to tons of money which could be spent on shipping large prestretched canvases). Since neither power tool

It’s not uncommon that I add on to the bottom or crop in from the sides. I usually cut the canvas with a few inches of buffer on all sides to allow for these changes. 2. It’s easier for me to maneuver large unstretched canvas on my own compared to the same size over stretcher bars. I use thumbtacks to move the canvas up or down on the wall so that the section I am painting on is at chest height. 3. Unstretched canvas takes up less room than stretched paintings, this can make for easier storage and cheaper shipping.
