Elizabeth Zieschang
Ms. Zieschang is a terrestrial and underwater archaeologist with over 10 years of experience. She studied Archaeology at the State University of New York at Potsdam for her undergraduate degree and has recently acquired her master’s degree from the University of Bradford (UK) in Landscape Archaeology and Digital Heritage. Her terrestrial work involves excavation at the Phase I, II, and III level, including directing fieldwork and project management. She has specialized experience with Total Stations, Ground Penetrating Radar, Earth Resistance, metal detectors, magnetometers, terrestrial laser scanning, and photogrammetry. She also has extensive training and experience in underwater archaeology, including hydroprobe target testing, induction dredges, circle searches, and transect surveys. She has experience with SCUBA, hookah, and Surface Air Supply diving and is a trained scientific diver under AAUS standards. Her underwater remote sensing experience includes side-scan sonar, magnetometer, ROVs, and sub-bottom profilers, including seismic data. Her main research interests are exploring submerged paleolandscapes, including the mapping and detection of drowned ancient living surfaces and archaeological features.
