generalluxun:
As the most French person I know: are there any stereotypes/commonalities/peculiarities about someone from Normandy?
sillysiluriforme:
The cliches are pretty bad. This applies to most of the regions north of ils de France (although slightly less for Bretons cause they have their own set of cliches), I assume this is about the Grassettes which I want to clarify are canonically from nord-pas-de-calais.
The north of france has a very bad reputation ! The stereotypical inhabitant is extremely rural, white, uneducated, bigoted (historically the RN’s main voter base lives there), has issues with alcohol and is poor due to high unemployment rates + de-industrialization (the area’s main exports used to be coal).
I recommend looking up what a french “beauf” is.
They’re also stupid because they speak a patois (like Ch’ti/Picard, Lorrain or Wallon ) instead of proper Parisian french and they have silly Americanized names based on Hollywood movies. Common ones would be Johnny, eddy, Jacky or Kevin (it’s a whole thing I believe Germans do it too ? Look up “kevinism”)
Lastly some very popular musicians up north are Patrick Sebastian and Johnny Halliday.
Also the inbreeding I can’t believe I forgot the inbreeding
