So I want to post my fanart but I'm an abstract artist. I've only seen a few fanart pieces of any Avengers straying from the norm, and usually it's cartoon or graphic art. I'm insecure about sharing it because there's like, no one else who does what I do. I'm not worried about criticism, at least I tell myself that, but do you think anyone would actually enjoy abstract fanart?

A

I would! You’re making art for the pleasure and love of it, and that’s what we’re all doing in our own way. The product of that passion is what we’re all sharing. I’d love to see what you’re inspired to make. I don’t draw a distinction between ‘fanart’ and any other art. Why shouldn’t you make abstract art on the subject you’re passionate about? It’s just a form of self expression, valid as any other form of self expression. Fanart is just art.

I think we all worry about criticism but we can’t let that stop us or nothing will ever get made! Keep up the great work, whether you decide to keep it eyes only or share it with fandom. Stay awesome!

Your drawing style is AMAZING!! Seriously gorgeous!! ! Anyway I was wondering how you learned to draw and if you maybe got some tips for someone who can't draw but wants to be able to 🙃

A

Thank you for your message, anon, I really appreciate your kind words!

I remember being shown how to draw a rose when I was small, maybe five or six years old, and then practicing that rose again and again, so I guess i can say I’ve been learning my whole life. If you’re asking about institutional schooling then yes, I went to art school and I have a Fine Art degree with a drawing major.

I left this in my inbox for a few days, anon, trying to think of something profound and important to tell you, but in the end the only thing that matters is work. I just work hard, I draw every day.

It’s the only way to get better, to get more practice. I really believe that no matter what you think ‘talent’ means, it’s mostly just work. I guess my tip is to do it every day or as much as you can, to persevere and push past those times when you feel like it’s worthless and nobody cares and you want to lie down on the floor.

tl;dr

Thank you and draw more!
