Hi! Can you explain what really the power of foresight was with Faramir? I read the books earlier this year and I don't really quite understand it. He could predict the future? Like he would see it in his dreams? But how did he found out from Gollum that he was taking frodo and sam to cirith ungol and that he had committed murder before?

anghraine answered:

No problem, it’s one of my favorite topics!

The concise explanation: I think Faramir’s foresight/aftersight in terms of visions is a largely separate “power” from his ability to bring his strength of mind and will to bear on other people and animals, and to resist outside influence. The visions seem more a matter of broad sensitivity, something Faramir doesn’t appear to have much if any control over. The second power is (in our terms) essentially a form of direct telepathy, limited in some ways but still very powerful, and I think this second ability is what Faramir is using with Gollum.

The really long version:

Belatedly, thank you very much! This reply was stranded in drafts for some reason, but it was fun to put all my thoughts together and further my psionic cryptid Faramir agenda :D

it's really funny that even people who support luigi mangione have like fully bought into the propaganda being pushed that he's the one who did it when he hasn't been convicted of shit and is extremely likely just some guy the nypd and eric adams could reasonably pass off as the person who did it to save face. That huge fucking perp walk (that shouldn't have even been legal to do) was to plant the idea in the public's mind that yeah, obviously this guy did it, why would they be doing this if he wasnt, and you all fell for it without even thinking about it.

You can support the actions of the person who did it while also believing the fact that the famously corrupt NYPD who completely fumbled around for days, posted multiple pictures of different people in similar clothing claiming they were the same suspect, and then out of nowhere said they knew with 100% certainty who did it and already had him in custody, might be lying and simply selected some dude to take the fall.

I actually think it's bonkers that companies and businesses can just get fines for safety problems. Like, no, the first thing should be, you don't get to open tomorrow.

Insufficient safety equipment? Okay. You're closed until you get that. Insufficient training? Nope. Closed until that's done

Like what do you mean, you did an inspection or an accident happened, and you fined them money, and then they jusT…
Opened again? The real loss of money would be making them stop operating until they're operating safely
