Intro Post

I identified as trans for 10 years before detransitioning and reconnecting with myself as a woman and a lesbian.

I’m against transition on the grounds that it’s medically and psychologically harmful to women, children, and lesbians, not because I have any hate towards trans identified people.

A woman is female, and a female is a woman. Masculine females of any identity label are my priority. You’re beautiful and you deserve love, health, and a happy life.

smthing i can just never believe when ppl (mostly twitter users) complain about a girl character being made to look 'mannish' or 'masculine' and talk about the death of femininity and every time i get excited and think 'oh okay cool did we get a butch character or-' and its literally jusg a regular fucking woman like you would see at the grocery store. like jusyt a normal woman

frenchifries

i think those people would have an aneurysm and die if they saw how actresses were styled in the 70s/80s/90s……

not that these women are looking super masc lol but the parameters for “acceptable female appearance” in both media and everyday life have indisputably narrowed over the past couple decades :|

The way conservative and liberal men will weaponize pedophilia against each other but are actually not really against it. Like,

Conservative men: Of course pedophilia is wrong! It's sexually deviant! It's harming our precious children!
But they'll hum and haw about child marriage.

Liberal men: Of course child molestation is wrong! Look at all those priests abusing their power against the powerless!
But they'll hum and haw about the age of consent or restricting the sex industry.

Notice how both also defend the perpetrators not getting adequate sentences?

Conservative, so-called "tough on crime" men: Well, you can't let one mistake ruin a man's life! He's a good neighbour/a man of god/good at sports! Really, can you blame him? She acted older for her age!

Liberal, so-called "feminist ally" men: We have to get away from punishment. People change their ways when met with compassion and understanding. He seems remorseful and willing to change. His victim of course should have therapy, but there's no need to punish him so severely. It won't take away what's happened.

Conservative men when it keeps happening: Well...he's...sick! He needs help. He needs to come back to God.

Liberal men when it keeps happening: He suffers from depression and economic stressors. Really the fault is with society.

Suffragettes didn't just fight for women's voting rights.

They fought for the right for women to own property, domestic violence protections, the right to initiate divorce, the right to have legal standing in courts, the right to obtain guardianship of their children during instances of divorce.

I'm sure you've heard men complain about women always getting custody in court, but prior to World War I, in cases of separation, men obtained guardianship of kids.

The right to an equal education, domestic violence protections, the right to not just vote but run for political office, advocating against the prostitution of women.

Here's a suffragette trying to persuade a sea of men about these things:

Not only that. Back then men were not just given guardianship, but ownership. Patricide was the most severely punished crime and fathers had a right of life and death over their families in multiple european countries (i'm speaking about France specifically here). Children back then did not benefit from the status they do now and their human rights were extremely limited (when they existed at all). Marital rape was obviously legal, but so was rape of a man's own children. (even if pedocriminality has been a concept in french law since 1832 (it applied to children below the age of 11, the current age of consent of 15 was established in 1945.))

The french government only started legislating on what men do to their children in 1889 (and even then, it took a while to have a true impact on the culture. And we could argue that with the way our justice system treats these cases, we're only just now starting to punish these men). That was less than 6 mothers ago.

I really believe there's some sort of "emperor's new clothes" phenomenon happening with Gen Z discoursers where they're too afraid to question the logic of some of the discourse being thrown at them for fear of appearing to be unwoke so they just blindly parrot it not to be excluded by their peers

jethroq

not just a Gen Z thing, like that’s a valid criticism of tumblr few years back, and I’m not ashamed to admit it sucked me in too. people can say whatever shit they want as long as they use the right vocabulary and an agressive tone that just implies that disagreement is out of the question. it sinks in because you will get similar messages about legitimate issues and sometimes from the same people.

The emperor's new discourse.

"Only perverts and bigots can't see the logic of this post."

I’ve literally seen mutuals ask (polite, respectful, unintrusive) clarifying questions about someone’s statements on terminology (along the lines of ‘I thought POC was the proper term for [X group], you say it’s not, could you tell me what is?’ level of question) and get targeted for abuse for being racist.

“People can say whatever shit they want as long as they use the right vocabulary and an agressive tone that just implies that disagreement is out of the question.”

Truer words were never spoken. As long as you sound angry and offended, people will bend over backwards to change themselves and their opinions to make you comfortable.

“I’m not part of this group, and this person seems very angry and offended that I said x thing about this group, so I must be the one in the wrong” is the thought process. Is there a word for this? Weaponizing being offended?

TRAs loveee to say that women getting boob jobs, laser hair removal, botox, filler, etc. and men getting gynecomastia surgery or hair transplants are all “gender affirming care” but every single one of those things is solely intended to help a person fit more neatly into gendered beauty standards and I just don’t understand how they don’t see that they’re fully telling on themselves. Like it’s one of the most blatant examples of their core belief that gender=superficial stereotypes and that their ideology is entirely based on reinforcing binary gender norms.

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any advice for being able to stand for what you believe?

I believe a lot of things that are radfem-leaning, but I don't really know how to debate them in an active argument. Not even with strangers but with my close friends.

It always comes down to the fact that I physically struggle to read and focus on things and so I can't read the radfem literature efficient enough. But without theory and sourses to back up my position I feel like I am just always will come out as a biggot.

Radfeminism is the only place I feel safe with being a lesbian. It saved me from death and reassured me that I was allowed to say no to AMAB people. But now that I see both strangers and friends shitting on it I feel personally threatened, especially since everyone around me are either conservatives or leftists who believe in sex work is work and gender-ideology.

How are you able to be so sure in what you say and believe? What helped you to be like that?

I don’t think it’s about reading theory, it’s just about common sense.

TRAs tell us that we’re wrong to be homosexual – We’re not. That’s homophobic.

Liberals say “Sex work is work”, but most women doing sex work don’t want to be doing it and a lot of “sex workers” have been trafficked from other countries. Lots of women who consensually did porn have been traumatized by it. Men are the only ones who feel like they “need” porn and prostitution. They’re the only ones really benefiting from it.

And in terms of gender ideology, that hurts women too. Psychologically and physically. Just tell them about all the detrans women you’ve heard of and the things we’ve been through.

Personal stories are often more impactful than trying to debate someone using specific facts anyway. Most TRAs are basically science deniers anyway and will say any research they don’t like the result of is biased and that it’s conservative propaganda.

These issues aren’t complicated enough (in my opinion) that we really need to read a ton of theory. It’s just about doing what’s best for women and standing up for women!
