The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge led the royal family in the carriage processional at the iconic horse race. Dressed in a top hat and tailcoat, William, 39, and Kate — who wore a black and white polka dot dress — rode in the first carriage that appeared at the top of the course and traveled along the famous track.

Royals are well dressed racegoers are out in force for the four day Gloucestershire festival – including the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Royal, Zara Tindall and Francesca Cumani.

With the sun shining as the first day of the Cheltenham Festival got underway, racegoers opted for summer gear, with short skirts, bright colour (centre) and lashings of leopard print (right) on show.
