Now, most people think of the old school ones that become massive.  And granted, even those with yearly pruning can be kept smaller. However, I use the variety ‘Winecraft Black’ Smokebush and a couple other small varieties.

It starts the season pushing out deep red foliage before blooming in summer months. During fall, the foliage turns bright orange before dropping for the winter.
