Escher drawings

my daughter brought home this fun artwork she did in math class...They were learning about tessellation and this is where I pretend to know something about math...which I do not. (i had to google tessellations)

Math art projects give kids a fun, tangible way to explore math concepts. They'll be blown away by the Mobius strip!

House of Stairs. November 1951 Lithograph "House of Stairs" has an unusual perspective. If the grid lines for this drawing were visible, one would see a network of curved vertical lines that met in the centre at three points along a vertical axis. The vanishing points have various functions for the Curl-Ups in the stairwell. The curved lines of the drawing allowed Escher to make opposite dimensions (above, below) flow into each other.

17 June we celebrate the birth of M. C. Escher, born 1898. Escher tessellated us for the last time in 1972.
