The "Hale House" was built in 1887 for G.W. Morgan and was sold numerous times... It was purchased in 1906 by James Hale, a motorman for the Southern Pacific Railroad, and his wife Bessie. The couple separate a few years later. Mrs Hale remained in the home taking in boarders and made a good deal of money investing in other real estate in the early twentieth century.
