Recommended to hang as close to the ceiling as possible but try for 10” above window trim. Ours are 6” due to vaulted ceiling. 2. Hang your rod WIDER than your window - so when you pull the drapes back you have all the light. Recommended 5-10” on each side after window trim (this depends on the width of your window). Ours are 12” on each side. CONCLUSION: measure your window incl trim then add at least 20” and that’s the rod size you need to order. Then install high! For reference our windows are 106” wide.
