Jen~Where Learning Meets Play on Instagram: "Keep a little open minded about pre-tests/assessments. Here (4th march 2020) I was finding out what my new little ones knew about line, colour, shapes and patterning. I asked questions, listened, chatted, wrote a few notes, and filmed a bit…..and then planned activities for the following week to support their growth in line with outcomes. I use pencil and paper assessments. I use play based assessments. I conduct pre tests and use formative assessments, AND plan for summative assessments. It all informs my teaching. The key I’ve found is to try and make what I can control valuable for learning (accepting that I don’t control everything- which I find hard). This is a fun activity regardless of how it’s used! All it is: washi (paper) tape with Lines Activities Preschool, Play Schemas Activities, Pattern Provocation, Structured Play Kindergarten, Early Years Mark Making Area, Pencil Control Activities, Preschool Mark Making Area, What I Can Control, Line Study

Cindy @ Your Kids OT ✏️🍪🇦🇺🐕 on Instagram: "PRE-WRITING AND FINE MOTOR CHALLENGE! This activity was inspired by @mansiambaliya . * Pre-writing - place coloured dots on a page, ask your child to draw pre-writing lines in the matching colour from one dot to the next. I’ve used a chalk dice to provide some line options. Work on pencil grasp, pencil control, visual spatial awareness, form constancy. * Fine motor challenge - use Cotton tips (Q-tips) and colour in the ends to match your chosen colours. Trace the pre-writing lines but you can’t put down the cotton tips. You can make it even harder by keeping both cotton tips in one hand. Rotate, shift, use intrinsic finger muscles, inhand manipulate, separate the two sides of the hand, stabilise the ulnar side! So many benefits to this a Pencil Control Activities, Pencil Grasp Activities, Visual Spatial, Pencil Grasp, Pencil Control, Spatial Awareness, Writing Lines, Pre Writing, Kids Writing
