Andrea Jorgensen Art on Instagram: "Step 1: Wet the Canvas Acrylic paints dry quickly, making it essential to keep the canvas wet to slow down the process (if not using a retarder). Wetting the surface provides an ideal base for painting, particularly on larger canvases. Step 2: Apply Watered Down Acrylic Underpainting Take it a step further by mixing a color with water. Apply this mixture evenly across the entire surface to create an underpainting. Step 3: Work into the Canvas to Saturate Work the watered-down acrylic into the canvas to saturate the fabric. This step is crucial, especially if you don’t gesso your canvas (I personally don’t). By following these three steps, you can apply and blend base colors effortlessly.
