William Afton’s Canon Motives

The following evidence is backed with canon quotes and references cited from the novels written by Scott Cawthon, based on real facts, and not a head canon or AU.

His envy and resentment of Henry Emily:

TSE p. 351: A search of his house…found stacks of journals full of raving paranoia, passages about Henry that ranged from jealousy to near worship.

TFC 173: William: “I can’t take complete credit for this, unfortunately…My only real accomplishment was making something that could walk…No small accomplishment but it’s not happening as fluidly as you think. A lot of what you see is just in your head…that was Henry’s idea not to try and reinvent the wheel.”

TTO p.258: “I’m…far more than Henry.”

TTO p. 261: “Do you think my robots would be as poorly designed as your father’s?” (Henry’s)

TFC p. 84: “…Henry found a unique spark-created something truly different, something he didn’t deserve, or intend, to stumble upon (Henry implanting his memories into a robot)…you will bring it (Charlie) to me.”

TTO p. 257: William to Charlie: “You have something that belongs to me.”

TSE p. 344-345: “We both wanted to love… (Henry) loved and now I have loved.”

TSE p. 344: “I helped (Henry) create.”

TSE p. 344: “(The children) are home, with me…Their happiest day.”

TSE p. 345: “There isn’t a way out anymore. All that’s left is family.”

His fear of death:

TSE p. 368. (William is afraid of death).

TFC p. 174: “I have face my own mortality…I knew I was dying and through every broken fragment of my body I was profoundly, immeasurably afraid.”

“I fear (death) more than I fear life like this, even when every waking instant is pain, and sleep is possibly only when induced by enough medication to kill most people.”

TFC p. 332: William Afton clenched his fists, studying his own hands for a moment and then looking toward the medical monitors in the corner. “I feel my time is running short.”

TFC p. 339: “I’m running out of ideas,” William said, failing to hide his anxiety.

Scientific experimentation:

His fascination with remnant and binding souls to suits after death.

“Now let us put you to a greater purpose.” (TFC p. 39)

“Their lives will now have a greater purpose,” (William) said contentedly. “Just as you did (Elizabeth in Circus Baby).” (TFC p. 40)

William watched (Circus Baby) with a gleam of pride. (TFC p. 172).

TFC p. 173: He reclined and let out a sigh. “Sometimes great things come at a great cost.”

TFC p. 174: Afton answered thoughtfully, “…But that’s why we’re here-to discover the secret of the last ingredient, what you might call the spark of life.”

TFC p. 175: "The most terrible accidents bear the most beautiful fruits…Re-creating the accident-That is the duty and honor of science. To replicate the experiment, and obtain the same results. I give my life to this experiment, piece by piece.”

TFC p. 178: "How did the creatures at Freddy’s move, of their own will, with no outside force controlling them?” He asked mildly. He tilted his head, waiting.

TFC p. 178-179: “The spirit follows the flesh, it would seem, and also the pain. If I wish to become my own immortal creation, my body must lead my spirit to its immortal home.”

TFC p. 109-111: “Since I am still experimenting… I move my flesh piece by piece. It is a test of the strength of my own will. How much of myself can I carve away, and still remain in control?”

TFC p. 320: “Well, that’s the point of this, to learn, trial and error.”

Jessica: “You want to live forever? …you’re making yourself into a robot?” (TFC 175)

Update

canon-william-afton

I want to be honest with my followers, so that no one thinks I am ghosting. I have been diagnosed with a rare incurable disease that has very little research. It has damaged all of my major organs. I have spent most of the past 6 months in doctor’s offices. I lost feeling in both legs and one arm. I am worried I won’t ever be able to have a normal life. The doctors said there is not enough research to help me. It feels hopeless. It hurts to even type right now. I am being seen in a week about starting an experimental treatment that may help me, but is very risky. If all goes well, I fully intend to keep creating content for this fandom when I am healthy enough and able to. Thank you all for your patience and support. It means so much to me. Have a wonderful day, FNAF family.

Update as of May 25th 2021:

I am very sad to say that things did not go well. My condition has deteriorated into a critical stage. I’ve had 2 surgeries in the past 6 weeks and am scheduled for at least three more from June through November. My lungs and heart are rapidly failing and I spend most of my days at the Hospital each week. For these reasons I do not have the health to continue to run this blog and must regretfully retire it, as well as any future art. I intend to keep it up so that this wonderful fandom may use it for reference. Thank you so much for the support these past few years and I hope you have wonderful and happy lives ahead. Fare well.

New William Afton Content

The following contains spoilers for the novel Five Night’s at Freddy’s Fazbear’s Frights #6 Blackbird.

TW: Body horror

(Epilogue page 238)

“…What looked like a burned skeletal man thrust upward. With ashy, see-through skin that revealed dried up but still quivering organs…rabbit ears unfolded from the back of the creature’s skull and stretched upright…”

(Epilogue page 240)

“I think the stuff in the trash compactor came from the Fazbear Entertainment Distribution Center and also from the site where the serial killer William Afton, the one notorious for wearing a rabbit suit, died.”

(Epilogue page 241-242)

“…maybe it was (William) Afton himself?”

“…Behind the unsuspecting Larson, the compacted trash began to move. Making a quiet rustling sound Larson didn’t hear, the junk rose from the trash compactor and began to arrange itself into an upright being…and from the top of the unnatural structure, what looked like two rabbit ears made out of even more animatronic parts unfolded and canted forward.”

(End quotes)

As previous speculated in this blog’s post “Novelization William Afton Might Come Back“ William died in a remnant furnace at the end of The Fourth Closet, but his soul did not move on. His burnt appearance in the new novel cements this. Detective Larson’s dialogue now tells us that the previously unknown location in TFC was the Fazbear Entertainment Distribution Center.

funtimespringscare101 asked:

I Think that if Glitchtrap were to appear and possibly talk for the first time in Security Breach ( because Glamrock Freddy's seems to be the one at the end of the trailer), we may quite possibly except PJ Heywood, as he voices the William Afton Counterparts.

answered:

I can’t see anyone else aside from PJ Heywood voice Glitchtrap…except maybe for Dawko. That’d be cool if Scott hired him to voice Glitchtrap in the game.

canon-william-afton

It’s very possible that some version of William is in the game, as it has been confirmed that PJ Heywood was hired in late July to voice an unspecified character and Micheal has moved on. It’s highly likely that PJ Heywood will be voicing Glitchtrap.

Update

Good Evening. As mentioned before, I (Mod) have health problems. I am scheduled for 3 additional surgeries (They must be done in stages because each requires a different surgeon in that expert area of study) with a 30-50% chance of more surgeries if something goes wrong.

I am not certain when I will be able to update this blog, but rest assured I will return when I’m able to. Thank you all for taking the time to read and I hope you have a wonderful day!

On the Construction of The Ball Pit

In Into the Pit, there is a time-traveling ball pit in which a possessed yellow rabbit mascot costume (presumably Spring Bonnie) can come out of. While the book is very poorly written and the logic doesn’t make much sense, this is what we know to be true about the construction of the ball pit itself:

“Oswald elbowed the yellow thing aside and moved between it and his still-unconscious father. “You leave… my dad… ALONE!” he yelled, then used the netting to bounce off and clamber onto the yellow thing’s back.” (Cawthon 62)

The above quote mentions that Oswald is standing between his father and the yellow thing (Spring Bonnie), meaning that he has to be in the middle of a ball pit large enough to hold two adults, one of whom is lying down unconscious, and one teenager. From here, he bounces off netting that is elastic enough to force him up 7 feet in the air (as that is Spring Bonnie’s height) to get onto his back. This means that there is elastic netting in the middle of the ball pit that can be bounced on by standing there.

“The rabbit stumbled back into the netting and ropes, then grabbed Oswald’s arms and slung him off its shoulders and into the pit.” (Cawthon 62)

After Oswald’s attack, Spring Bonnie is said to stumble back (but not fall, meaning he is still standing upright) into both netting and ropes. This means that from where Oswald is, he is bouncing on only netting, but on the sides of the ball pit, there are both netting and ropes that are strong enough to support a ~300-400lbs robotic mascot costume without breaking. After this, he would need to stand again in order to throw Oswald off of him.

“Oswald fell headfirst under the surface, grateful that the bottom of the pit was soft. His arm was throbbing, his whole body exhausted, but he had to get up.” (Cawthon 62)

This shows that Oswald is underneath the surface of the ball pit, and cannot see nor do anything about the situation above, where Spring Bonnie still stands perfectly fine. Oswald has not done anything nor can do anything to affect him.

“Oswald rose unsteadily to his feet. Somehow, when it shook Oswald off, the yellow thing must have gotten tangled in the ropes and netting that lined the ball pit. A rope was looped around its neck, and it grasped the rope with its big paws, trying to get free. Oswald couldn’t understand why it was failing to free itself until he saw that the yellow thing’s feet weren’t touching the floor of the pit. The yellow thing was suspended from the rope, which was tied securely to a metal rod at the top of the ball pit.” (Cawthon 62-63)

Despite Oswald being underneath the surface of the ball pit and doing nothing to affect Spring Bonnie, somehow, by the time he stands again Spring Bonnie is hanging from a metal rod at the top of the ball pit by a rope. Spring Bonnie does not seem to do this intentionally, as he is trying to get free. Because Oswald’s father is still unconscious, the only two explanations for this are that A) Jeff (the pizzeria owner who is watching this happen from ~50 feet away on the other end of the pizzeria) ran over and lifted the ~300-400lbs mascot suit and hung him himself, then ran all the way back to where he was standing behind the counter as if nothing happened, or B) the ball pit ropes and netting moved on their own, tangling Spring Bonnie in them, tying a knot, and pulling ~300-400lbs of weight upward in order to hang him. In the case of option B, it is very much possible that the ropes and netting are engineered to move on their own with robotic parts hidden inside to capture children (much like the Funtime animatronics were designed to do), or the ball pit itself could be possessed by the spirit of a vengeful dead child that died there previously (which is how the robots come to be possessed).

Along with that, this means that the ball pit is encased in a cube-like metal cage for Spring Bonnie to hang from the top of it, with netting lining every side (and somewhere in the middle for Oswald to bounce off of). Thus, as a final conclusion, we can say that the ball pit is completely encased in netting with a metal cage frame around it, along with a middle point of extremely elastic netting (however this cannot be the floor of the ball pit, as it is described as “soft” rather than being netting).

The definition of the term ‘ball pit’ is as follows:

“A ball pit is a padded cube or box surrounded by netting filled with hollowplastiv ball whereas a container filled with balls is called a ball pool or ball pond and a tunnel full of balls is called a ball crawl. A ball pit may also have slides or climbing structures with in or trampoline flooring.” (Google)

By this definition, a ball pit is technically required to have netting in the shape of a cube around it, and so Scott Cawthon is correct in his usage of the term.
