New pinned! Read before following maybe?

Based on my older now dead pinned. Please like this so I know you’ve read it!! I grow more powerful with every like on this.
Original pinned may be found here.

Firstly, some basic info:

You can call me Jeffy, Jefferson, or my URL. (usually catboybeebop)
Pronouns are just he/him, cispan to be clear. You can try other stuff if we’re close, though.
I’m 18, and my birthday is September 25th.
I may sometimes reblog from 18+ blogs, and if so, I’ll tag reblogs from them as “#mdni” if I know the OP is 18+, so that you can filter them out.

My DNI among other general about info can be found at:
https://catboybebop.neocities.org/pages/about (NOT AT ALL DONE! Sorry.)

For what I think about endogenic systems, see:
https://catboybebop.neocities.org/pages/about/system_of_a_downpinion.html

(currently PLACEHOLDER’D!!!)

Now for the tags:

#jeffyspeaks! for me generally talking
#jeffydraws! for art (check it out!)
#jeffysocs! for OC-related posts (check ‘em out btw!)
#askjeffy! for asks (anon asks will be tagged as #anon asks, and my inbox is open for all, lovers and haters, anytime all the time)
#videos/#video and #audio for posts with videos or audio made by me
#jeffyplays! + the name of a game for any posts of me blogging about my playthroughs (e.g. #jeffyplays! #half-life)
#shitposts for, well, shitposts. usually crosses over with other tags seen here
#jeffylogs! for my daily log posts, a la Pikmin

Lego builds are tagged as “#jeffybuilds!

If you need me to tag something with a trigger warning, please let me know as soon as you can. I’ll try my best to tag things if I can.

Now for the sideblogs:
@jeffersondoesart - the art-only blog! (all forms of art I make get reblogged to there, be it drawings, builds, etc,.) Also SFW only.
If you’re an adult, yknow, 18 years of age or older, you can DM or ask me (off anon!) for my NSFW sideblog. I’d rather not link my public main with a NSFW blog, honestly.
@itallianmansquirkingonthebeat/@thenoisesquirkingonthebeat - Pizza tower-specific shitpost blog(s).

Some extra things:
If you see a “read more” link on one of my art posts, that means there’s bonus material! (alts, the original full canvas, etc,.)

If you’re going to block me and we’re friends/mutuals, PLEASE tell me why so that I can know what I did wrong and be a better person, or at least make amends.

additionally if you support, excuse, or are a fan of Changed, (or its roblox clone, Kaiju Paradise) get off of my blog before I make you regret coming here.
(if you don’t already know, good. Don’t fucking ask. if you do, here’s to hoping we both heal)

I’m fine with and even enjoy cool weird furry stuff, including and especially transformation (not as a kink, just think it’s neat) but I just don’t like Changed. Trauma n’ all.

if you actively unironically use retroarch to play emulated games (when you have other, better options to do so) i actively think a bit lesser of you as a person

What's wrong with retroarch, if you don't mind me asking? the N64 emulator I just started using seems to use it. And I started using it because a website with Mario 64 romhacks recommended it (and seems to only function at all if you use it)

catboybeebop

i just think that the interface of retroarch Fucking Sucks and is way too overcomplicated for what should be "the easy way to emulate". if you can figure out how to set up and configure retroarch, then congrats, you can do it for standalone emulators (and frankly should, in my experience they perform better and are MUCH MUCH easier to configure)

If you just want to build a little box that plays emulated games, I'd say retropi is more the way to go, or hell, Big Picture steam could work too, if you want just a launcher. Or just use a Wii/Wii U and virtual console injects!

also i don't remember all the details but i remember hearing that drama from the retroarch devs resulted in a SNES emulator developer committing suicide

all in all, the *idea* of retroarch, is good. but in execution it fucking sucks

i do like the idea of emulators all being in "cores", effectively libraries/binaries one can install or remove at a whim, and possibly even use in their own software if they wanted to, but besides that, nothing good has come from retroarch imo

too many damn menus, too many options, it's just easier to set up standalone emu's on a PC and either launch games from the emulator (like dolphin) or tell Windows (or another OS) to open certain ROM types with a specific emulator, so you just double click & play it.

ahhhh yeah gotcha. definitely felt that. parallel launcher does help a bit with the UI but it's still an absolute disaster, really frustrating to use, and it only works with N64 roms, and is mostly catered towards Super Mario 64 specifically, so if you wanna play basically anything else it's not going to be super helpful.

I've switched to Rosalie's Mupen GUI and i'm having a much better time with it

catboybeebop

Eh, parallel launcher seems fine for just SM64 romhacks, but I’ve never used it. In fact I don’t believe it’s based on retroarch but again, haven’t looked into it
